GENERAL PROGRAMS

The content of the General Programs covers an introduction of Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu where you will be able to familiarise yourself with the warm up exercises, the Shil Lim Tao Form and also have an introduction to various techniques such as Chi Sao, Dim Mak, Self Defence and many more.

Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu evolved to work best in a very specific set of circumstances:

  • You are defending from a position of disadvantage.  This may mean you have been assaulted by surprise or ambushed when you are unprepared to defend.
  • Your attacker is bigger and stronger or otherwise has physical advantage.
  • You may be defending with limited mobility, such as in a hallway, elevator or other confined space.
  • You may be defending while standing, while seated, or while on the ground.
  • You may be facing a single attacker or multiple attackers.

CHI SAO

Chi Sao is an exercise for improving close distance focusing with the eyes and contact reflexes.  After a block, there exists a contact point.  At this point, an opponent’s intended move is transmitted as a vibration. The response to this vibration is a contact reflex action.

The side benefits of Chi Sao exercises are improvements in mobility at close range, timing of movements, accuracy of strike, generation of power at short range, and control of an opponent’s balance and arms from point of contact.
